Exam stress!


  • Set small, achievable goals for yourself and work on these one at a time 
  • Take short breaks from study every hour or two 
  • If you are running out of time to study for an exam, prioritize - what are the most important things to focus on? 
  • Spend five minutes each day practicing relaxation skills - close your eyes, breathe slowly and deeply, tell yourself to relax and be calm, think of something pleasant 
  • Try to keep your thoughts positive but realistic 
  • Eat regular meals 
  • Keep your caffeine intake down 
  • Avoid drugs and alcohol 
  • Try to get a decent sleep each night 
  • Try to do some light exercise (e.g. walking) a couple of times each week 
  • Make time every week to do something nice for yourself, e.g. see a movie, visit a friend, have ice cream, read a frivolous magazine 
  • Make plans to reward yourself in some way when the semester is over
